Financial Life Skills and Entrepreneurship Program

"To support our entrepreneurs, we need to develop an overall environment that encourages people to discover, create and experiment."

"We have started to restructure our educational curriculum and methods of teaching to produce Singaporeans who can think creatively and non-conventionally. We are also encouraging the spirit of enterprise and doing business in our schools."
--- Prime Minister Goh

In line with the government's call to make Singaporeans more self-reliant it is essential to step up efforts to promote entrepreneurship. Edubase recognizes the need to incorporate entrepreneurship education and business-related programmes in the curriculum.

The Financial Life Skills course uses basic economic principles to help students develop the knowledge, reasoning skills, and confidence that will allow them to take responsibility for their futures and to understand that human behavior is a result of choices, not chance. Students learn that by investing in their skills, knowledge and capital, they can gain control over and improve opportunities in their own lives. We aim to equip students with the ability to apply economics and decision-making skills to the real world of earning and spending an income, savings, using credit, investing, and managing money.

The Entrepreneurship Program consists of two approaches, namely Theory and Practical Approach. The theory approach introduces participants to the roadmap of starting a new business and guides participants through steps of planning and implementing corporate and business strategies. The Practical Approach will equip participants with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge, which they will employ to draw out a business plan to submit to the school for review. Schools may consider providing an angel funding to implement these business plans, where the school holds a proportion of the shareholdings and the remaining stake will be distributed among the students involved.

Arts and Drama Courses

"Studies in the US have shown that entrepreneurship is closely correlated with the level of cultural vibrancy. Studies have shown that the arts can help individuals to become more creative, in areas beyond the arts. They are an important source of inspiration and a powerful avenue for individual expression."
--- National Day Rally Address 2002 by Prime Minister Goh.

In response to the Remaking Singapore initiatives, Edubase has lined up an exciting variety of arts-related courses. These include drama classes and poetry appreciation classes.

Edubase has come up with a list of Life Science courses including DNA Studies, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Protein Chemistry, Immunology. Other areas include understanding life science while incorporating IT skills.
